My name is Laura Plys and I am the owner + photographer of Through Laura’s Lens Photography. I love to capture beautiful moments….life as it happens.
My passion for photography came from an unexpected journey. My husband gifted me with a camera as he was battling brain cancer. His reason?… to find beauty from ashes….JOY in each day.
I am a Mama to five amazing and talented children, many of whom share the love of the camera. I am blessed to be able to collaborate with my daughter Anna and son Daniel from time to time on weddings…loving their company and creative eye.
I am “Nana” to five of the most adorable grandchildren in the world…yes, I am biased…that’s my job!! Audrey, Raleigh, Wesley ,Shai + Mimi have my heart and I love and embrace every moment we spend together. There is nothing better than sloppy wet kisses and the name Nana on the lips of a child.
My other passion besides photography is Project JOY…raising awareness and funds for childhood hunger in our community through the Backpack Program. After Patrick lost his battle with brain cancer in 2012, our family found a way to put our grief into action to honor his legacy of compassion and giving.
